The Himalayan wasn't built for clean tarmac and it doesn't need a filter that assumes otherwise. The BMC FM966/08 is built for exactly the conditions this bike is made to handle — dust, altitude, long days in the saddle.

Where the stock paper filter compresses air through a flat, restrictive layer, the BMC uses multiple layers of oil-soaked cotton gauze wrapped in an epoxy-coated alloy mesh. That construction lets more air reach the engine while still trapping particles down to 7 microns — tighter filtration than the stock element's roughly 10 microns, even with the extra flow. On a bike that regularly eats dust on backroads and hill climbs, that's not a marginal upgrade, it's protection that matters.

BMC moulds the whole filter as one seamless piece — no joints to fail after a few thousand rough kilometres — and the rubber lip seats airtight into the stock Himalayan airbox. It's a straight swap: no cutting, no re-tuning.
